1. How and when you first met Harry Roseman
I first met Harry in his house in Poughkeepsie on Decemebr 13th, 2008. I had only heard his voice over the phone, since every time I called Catherine he was the one who answered the phone. I went there with Ju Kim to videotape Catherine for a video portrait i was doing for Skowhegan School of Painting. Harry kindly opened the door for us. After he took a photograph at the kitchen-entrance in their house he showed us the way to get to her studio. Once I finished with the interview, they invited us to stay for lunch. the menu was homemade Tomato soup with Grilled Cheese Sandwiches and lemon Squares for dessert. Harry had prepared the food for Catherine, me and Ju while we were doing the video interview.
2. A statement about your work and/or a brief autobiographical statement.
I am a filmmaker and photographer. Originally from Bogotá, Colombia. I have been living in NY since 1999. I studied Electrical Engineering in Bogotá and then a MFA in Photography and Video at School Of Visual Arts. After graduated from there, I was an artist in residence at Skowhegan School of Painting and the Atlantic Center for the Arts. I have shown my work at the 48th Oberhausen International Short Film Festival, Germany, Articule gallery in Montreal, Canada, The Institute of Contemporary Art in Philadelphia (ICA), MUU gallery in Helsinki, Finland and other venues.
I am particularly interested in portraiture. I work with strangers in creating their portrait. My films are created from that interaction.
