1. I think I first met Harry Roseman some time in the fall of 1999, when I began teaching Vassar College. By 2002 I moved to Rhinebeck and began seeing him at the farmers market somewhat frequently.
2. I teach sociology and urban studies. My scholarship explores how markets and their cultures transform places, formal organizations, and labor reproduction. Lately I’ve been thinking about a framework for urban cultural analysis through the case of popular music. I’m also always interested in studying the communities outside my front door, which presently means the Mid-Hudson Valley; for instance, I was primary investigator on the recent community food assessment for the City of Poughkeepsie.
