I.– first met Harry along with his wife, Catherine Murphy, through Tom Nozkowski and Joyce Robins. There must have been food involved, likely Easter breakfast at the Canal House in High Falls. It was a time when we met many people. Some friendships start strong and diminish. I did not imagine then that this one would become so important.

2. A statement about your work and/or a brief autobiography: I lived a half century lucky, in a lucky country. These past few years its flaws became canyons and the world seems an increasingly dangerous and endangered place. I paint as a way to negotiate this situation. The loss of control in a sneeze, the sneeze folding into a handkerchief inform my process and my subject.
